We stayed another week near Kancamagus at Country Bumpkins RV park. Weather was largely not very cooperative, and the fall colors weren't as vivid as we remember from 22 years ago. Locals were saying the same thing. Still beautiful enough to take a few scooter rides and enjoy the scenery. Check out the pictures and videos I took on several rides. We packed up on Friday morning October 20 and drove a fairly leisurely 270 miles to new Paltz New York, where we stayed for five nights at Yogi Bear's Jellystone resort. The place is huge. When we arrived on Friday evening around 7 PM, it was raining some, and the place was nearly full. They orient a lot of activities in the park around kids and families, and every Saturday night in October is trick-or-treat night. I went and got nine bags of candy, and we went through it all! We didn't keep track, but I bet we had at least 200 kids stop for goodies. Lots of moms and dads got involved in their own costumes as well. Check out some of the pictures I took of the passersby. Looks like everyone was having a great time, and we were fairly entertained as well! We did not dress up, however.

Hey, finally figured out how to get local news on YouTube TV. Which was really nice, and we didn't realize how much we missed hearing local news. We got the local weather reports from essentially New York City and Manhattan, which was pretty neat. Seeing completely different faces on local news was actually pretty interesting. We stayed for five nights at the Yogi Bear resort, and as accurately predicted by our next-door neighbor, the morning after our arrival, the place was COMPLETELY deserted by early Sunday afternoon, October 22nd. Weather turned spectacular on Monday the 23rd, and stayed that way on Tuesday the 24th. Please check out pictures and videos I took on both of those days as I made several trips back and forth to very quaint New Paltz, New York. Trees in the RV park were simply gorgeous!

We got away from Yogi Bear RV Park on Wednesday morning October 25. We were up by about 6 o'clock and departed around 830. We couldn't do our usual of packing up the scooters the night before because the RV spot they assigned us had a serious dip in it, and we were afraid the extra weight on the back would cause us to drag on the ground when we went back up the small hill to get to the road. It did not. Yay!

Wednesday, 10/25/23 - Driving through Central Pennsylvania on our way to Luray, Virginia for a four-day stay near Shenandoah National Park was gorgeous all the way, and nearly all interstate, great roads! And fall colors seem to be in full bloom here in Pennsylvania, now a few hundred miles south of New Hampshire. Really beautiful drive all day.

We stayed for four nights near Luray Virginia. October 25 through the 28th, and then would drive about 230 miles to Virginia Beach Virginia for another four night stay, through the day after Halloween, 2023. I'm composing these lines on Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023, so here's a short summary of the last two stays.

I took several scooter rides up in the Shenandoah National Park near Luray, Virginia, and the fall colors are up. There are just stunning. Mostly yellows and oranges, not very much red, but the notes on the news suggested this area is pretty much in peak fall colors, which, of course they also called leaf peeping out here. Weather was mostly cooperative in and around Luray, so please see lots of pictures and videos that I took, and have posted on those pages. I've concluded that I'm not very happy with the video quality of the GoPro. I'm gonna keep messing with the settings to see if I am doing something wrong, but when I'm in motion, and the camera is mounted on my motorcycle helmet, the videos seem really choppy and blotchy. So in Shenandoah, I switched to just holding the cell phone and keeping it slow and safe on the mostly deserted roads. It's about a 13 mile ride from the RV park to the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. I think I got some gorgeous shots in many many places!

We left Luray the morning of October 29, and drove to Virginia Beach, Virginia. The first two days of our stay here have been unseasonably warm. It's been mid-80s all three days so far, but today, Halloween, the temps have dropped back to pretty normal with a high predicted through tomorrow, the rest of our stay, to be about 55 - Yeah, a THIRTY degree drop in one day!
